Challenges in Employee Resourcing

Employee resourcing is the process of acquiring, developing, and managing the human resources needed to achieve an organization's goals. It is a critical function for any organization, as it ensures that the right people are in the right place at the right time to do the right work.

However, employee resourcing can be a complex and challenging process. There are a number of factors that can make it difficult to find, attract, and retain the right talent. These challenges can include:

  • Skills shortages: There is a growing demand for skilled workers in many industries, and this can make it difficult to find qualified candidates.
  • Rising costs: The cost of acquiring and retaining talent is rising, and this can put a strain on organizational budgets.
  • Changing demographics: The demographics of the workforce are changing, and organizations need to adapt their resourcing strategies to accommodate these changes.
  • Employee engagement: Employee engagement is a critical factor in retention, and organizations need to find ways to keep their employees engaged and motivated (Northumbria University, 2023).

Overcoming these challenges requires a strategic approach to employee resourcing. Organizations need to develop a comprehensive resourcing plan that takes into account their current and future needs. They also need to invest in their talent pipeline and develop strong relationships with educational institutions and other potential sources of talent.

Here are some specific strategies that organizations can use to overcome the challenges in employee resourcing:

  • Develop a strong employer brand: A strong employer brand can help organizations attract and retain top talent. Organizations need to communicate their culture, values, and employee benefits to potential candidates.
  • Use technology to streamline the hiring process: Technology can help organizations automate many of the tasks involved in hiring, which can free up time for recruiters to focus on finding qualified candidates.
  • Invest in employee training and development: Investing in employee training and development can help organizations retain talent and improve employee performance.
  • Create a culture of engagement: Organizations need to create a culture of engagement where employees feel valued and respected. This can be done by providing employees with opportunities for growth and development, and by recognizing and rewarding their accomplishments (Forbes, 2023).

By taking a strategic approach to employee resourcing, organizations can overcome the challenges they face and build a high-performing workforce.

In terms of the aviation industry and my experience with relating to this industry, I have observed that this industry faces unique challenges in employee resourcing. Global rivalry for pilots, engineers, and maintenance workers is a major issue. This competition is driven by rising worldwide air travel demand. Technology and regulations require specialised skills, which the sector must keep up with. Creating a diverse and inclusive workforce, especially in demographically dominated fields, is difficult. Aviation's focus on safety and regulatory compliance makes thorough background checks and qualification assessments crucial. These issues require aviation firms to use new recruitment methods, engage in ongoing training, and create a culture that attracts and keeps top people.

  2. Agreed with your points while adding more, most challenge I can see Talent Retention. Economy is becoming globalized and the markets are expected to become more and more competitive HRM is facing a big challenge to retain talented employees with in the organization. How can we overcome this? Most of the organizations have started to using ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) for the on-boarding process and induction. Do you have any idea about this?
